FAQ (Rentals)

Frequently Asked Rental Questions:

Can I walk in a rent a cart for the day?

May - September it is unlikely. We rent out months in advance and usually customers rent for a week. There is a chance we could have a daily rental available so walk in at 9am during the week or 10am on Saturdays to see if we have anything available. We do not take reservations for anything less than two days.

When can I rent for the season?

We open the phone lines and online rentals January 2nd each year. You can be added to a list for us to call you the first week of January.

I won’t be arriving until 7:00 P.M. on Saturday night, can I still pick up my rental?

Yes! You were emailed an online waiver to sign. As long as you fill that out and pay the remaining balance on your rental we will talk with you over the phone to make arrangements for after hours pick up.

I was driving my rental and it died in the middle of the road.

The golf cart will give you notice it the batteries were really dying. Usually, if you think the cart dies in the middle of the road it is the forward/ reverse switch not in gear. Kids little feet tend to knock the F/R switch into neutral or your bag might fall on it. Make sure it is in forward or reverse.

Do not push the golf cart. You will be purchasing a new motor, controller and solenoid if you push the golf cart.

I charged my golf cart all night and it isn’t moving.

Make sure the charger is unplugged from the golf cart and the key is on. Then put the golf cart in forward or reverse. This should engage the golf cart into drive.

I am not sure if my golf cart is charging.

Think of your golf cart like your cellphone. You need to plug the AC cord into the wall (110 AMP outlet) and then you need to plug the other cord into the golf cart. When the AC cord is plugged into the wall/ outlet there will be a blue light lit up showing you the charger is getting power but it isn’t charging the golf cart. You need to plug the other cord into the golf cart under the forward/ reverse switch. If the charger is blinking green (or showing an orange charge signal on some chargers) the cart is charging. When you wake up the next morning both squares should be solid green or the top circle will be green on some chargers.

Make sure your outlet has power to it.

I received a parking ticket, what do I do?

You need to take it to the town office and pay it. Golf carts are vehicles in the town of Cape Charles. You need to park the golf cart as if it was a car.

How far can I go?

Anywhere in the historic district that is 25 m.p.h. You can not go past the Cape Charles Brewing Company.
